Transcription settings
Grafite suggests a setting that fits this device. You can always choose something else.
We suggest a starting point
When you sign in, Grafite asks if you’d like a setting that usually works well for a computer like yours. You can say yes, keep what you have, or see every option. Nothing is locked in. Change it later in Settings → Intelligence → Check this device.
The names you’ll see
Grafite Cloud
Transcription runs in Grafite’s private cloud. Audio is processed to make your transcript and is not sold or used to train AI. This is the best fit for most computers.
Grafite Cloud Pro
Our highest-end cloud option. Included with Professional. Same privacy as Grafite Cloud.
On Device
Transcription runs on this computer. Good for most laptops. If you already chose an older Light or Detailed setting, it still works. Those are no longer offered as new choices.
On Device Pro
Our best on-device quality. Needs at least 8 GB of memory and 4 CPU cores, plus a one-time ~650 MB download. Dictation can also use On Device Pro in the desktop app.
Is Grafite Cloud private?
Yes. Cloud transcription is processed to make your notes. Grafite does not sell your content or use it to train AI. Choosing On device means transcription compute stays on your computer. Meeting recordings may still be saved for playback unless you change retention in Settings → Data & Privacy. See on-device speech for what can stay local today and what still uses the cloud.
Plans
On Device is available on every plan. Hardware is the limit, not billing. Grafite Cloud is also on every plan. Grafite Cloud Pro is included with Professional.
