One shortcut, any app
Press the dictation shortcut, speak, and Grafite inserts cleaned-up text where you were typing. It works in Slack, Microsoft Teams chat, Mail, Gmail, Google Docs, Notion, Word, Linear, your browser, and most other places a cursor can land.

Choose Apple Speech on a Mac, On device — Best after a one-time model download, or Grafite Cloud Pro on Professional. We are expanding how much of Grafite can run locally. Dictation is one of the first places you can keep speech on the machine.

Questions
Does dictation work in Slack, Google Docs, and Mail?
Yes. Dictation inserts into the app in front: Slack, Teams chat, Mail, Gmail, Google Docs, Notion, Word, issue trackers, IDEs, and most browser fields. If you can type there, you can usually dictate there.
Does speech leave my computer?
It depends on the engine you pick. Apple Speech and On device — Best run on the computer. Grafite Cloud Pro streams audio for Professional plans. You can switch in Settings → Intelligence. More of Grafite is moving on-device over time. See grafite.io/support/on-device.
Is dictation available on Windows?
The desktop app is built for Mac and Windows. Mac download is available now. Windows follows the same capture model as we roll that build out. The product is designed so you can dictate into the Windows apps you already use, not only Mac ones.
Is this the same as a voice note?
No. Dictation types into another app. A quick voice note records into Grafite, with a transcript and optional summary in your knowledge graph. A quick note is typed (or pasted) into a compact Grafite window and saved as a note.
Do I need the desktop app?
Yes for system-wide dictation, quick notes, and quick voice notes. Those shortcuts live in the installable desktop app. Meeting notes, the editor, and Ask Grafi still work in the browser and on iOS.
